The most popular women’s specific Assos short we sell, the H FI.Lady_S5 is easily the most comfortable and high performance women’s half or non-bib short in the world.
Fabricated largely from Assos A.430 fabric, the H FI.Lady_S5 has what Assos describes as a six-panel design, one that was developed using their AEPD II (Advanced Ergonomic Pattern Design) system for the perfect fit while sitting in the saddle. The pattern used through the crotch and around the thighs is less aggressive than that found on the FI.13 and the shorts feature a fabric that actually places less pressure on the crotch.
Not content with ordinary half short waistbands, Assos has designed an incredible Elastic Waistband System that provides adequate pressure to keep the shorts in place, but does not constrict breathing. How’d they do it? By using a higher compression Lycra on the back and a lower, more supple version across the abdomen. The front portion of the waistband is quite wide and very soft to prevent any chance of binding. We could write about it for days, but the reality is, if you try them on once you’ll completely understand.
The best thing about the H FI.Lady_S5, and one that isn’t immediately apparent when you slip them on for the first time, is how awesome the newly designed insert is. Similar in many ways the insert found in the FI.13_S5 short, the FI.Lady insert is built using Assos’ new light blue colored material (Assos calls it Klinik) for increased breathability, heightened ergonomics and lower volume. Assos also has also designed the pad to fit the female body perfectly when sitting on the bike, as such the Lady version of the S5 insert is wider and shorter than that used in the men’s shorts and has just the right thickness of padding. Although this is Assos’ entry-level short, the pad is of higher quality and performance than you’ll find in any other half-short.
