This may well come as a shock to some newer riders out there, but, for much of the history of the sport, cycling socks only came in one color: white. They were mostly made from very low volume wool and worked pretty well. But things change and we’re OK with that. Sometime back in the 1990’s, as mountain biking was on the ascension, black socks creeped their way into cycling’s collective style manual. Some say it was Yeti rider and Mammoth Kamikaze king Jimmy Deaton that was the first professional racer to wear black socks, but we all know it was one seven-time Tour winner that made them popular.
Assos has dropped the latest version of their ClassicSocks with a very minimal and streamline look. Seemingly very similar to the construction and material used in the SkinWeb socks, the Classics do away with bright colors and large logos. The Classic socks are the Emiliana Torrini to the SkinWeb’s Bjork--understated and elegant, but with all the performance. We think the Classics’s presentation makes them perfect for wearing with any Assos kit and even to the gym or out on errands. You’ll wear them so much that Assos was kind enough to assemble them in a three-pack set.
