Details
This is not intended to be directly disrespectful to riders like the super domestique for the super team, Chris Horner, but it feels to us like the properly worn cycling cap went the way of Moreno Argentin back in the mid-1990’s. Used to be that the riders knew how to wear a cap and, not coincidentally, the caps were cut so they could be perched just on the top of the head with a stiff peak at the front and nice downward slant of the brim right to the nose.
The good news is that those days aren’t entirely gone. The Assos SummerCap retains the quality and cut that guys like Argentin and legendary style master and one-time Assos sponsored rider Malcolm Elliott insisted upon.
Yet, being Assos they take the cycling cap to a new level by fabricating it from stiff, but absorbent cotton fabric, perfectly sculpting the bill and going so far as to position a mesh vent in the rear of the cap to facilitate cooling.
Come to think of it, we may just leave the helmet at home today and channel our inner Argentin.
