Our 22 oz. Purist water bottles are infused with silicon dioxide (found in nature as sand and quartz and used in the production of glass bottles and ceramics such as earthenware, stoneware and porcelain) forming a protective glass-like barrier that prevents odors, stains and mold from permanently attaching to the inside surface of the bottle. This lining is 5,000 times thinner than a human hair, and will not de-laminate or fall off, even when the supple plastic of the bottle is flexed over and over. Even if it could be removed, silicon dioxide (at the levels found inside of the bottle) occurs naturally in fruits, vegetables, and nuts, so ingestion is not a problem.
The Purist bottle is made of food-safe LDPE # 4 plastic that is both BPA-free and won’t leach into liquid.
The bottle interior should never be scrubbed or mechanically scratched. The best cleaning is to simply rinse your bottle with warm water and a mild detergent. Alternatively, the bottle can be washed on the top rack of the dishwasher. For the best performance we recommend rinsing the bottle after every use.
